G Syier

In the 1980's back in Philly, Syier had the best music and entertainment education possible. His production mentor was Grammy award nominated producer Nick Martinelli, his label and business mentor was gospel label owner Tony Beck of Philly International records. Syier's vocal and music teacher the highly accomplished Ann Swain Clark, his songwriting mentors and partners, Gabriel and Annette Hardeman (I Feel Good) Stephanie Mills, (Love Under New Management) Miki Howard, and Syier's greatest lessons came from the late Bishop Walter Hawkins and Edwin Hawkins. The Hawkins family, the first family of gospel music has been such a pillar to the gospel community and the music industry as a whole. Having this rich connection was an amazing and vital part of Syier's preparation for his musical journey.

The late great Teddy Pendergrass, was the Usher of the 1970's and 80's. After his auto accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down, his come back would be a major challenge, but he came back hard. His 1988 Joy LP was nominated for a Grammy award (Best Male Vocal). On that Grammy award nominated project was the song "This Is The Last Time" written by Gabriel Hardeman, Annette Hardeman and G Syier Hawkins Brown. Syier's first endeavor as a songwriter at the age of nineteen was a monumental success. The Hardemans' and Syier had a follow up hit as songwriters with the 1989 R&B gold selling hit single "Love Under New Management" by Miki Howard. The single peaked at the #3 spot on Billboard and stayed in the top 5 position for a total of thirteen weeks.

This was just the start that Syier needed. Syier has penned hits for Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Edwin Hawkins, Maxwell, Sisqo, Faith Evans, Joe, LeAnn Rhimes, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Maxwell, Rachel Farrell, Jessie Powell,  Phyllis Hyman, and his global hit "Show Me Love" by Robin S. and its  rebirth in 2022 when Beyonce' sampled the classic for her world hit single, "Break My Soul". 

With  production credits on Tupac Shakur's hits,,"Dear Mama", "Keep Ya Head Up", "All Eyes On Me" and "How Do U Want It". Syier has been a staple in the R&B, Gospel, Rap, House and Hip Hop genres.
